From all of us at Homescapes and from all
of the recipients of the home modifications and their families,
we have the deepest gratitude for the generosity and unselfishness
of all of our donors. Without this support there would be no
Homescapes, and hundreds of individuals and their families
would not be able to live with dignity and independence in
safe, accessible homes.
The demands on you for charitable funds are often overwhelming
and we respect your own decisions on what non-profits to entrust
your funds with. Our commitment to you is that every dollar
that you donate to Homescapes will get used as efficiently
as possible with the greatest positive impact on society. Our
goal is for operating expenses to be below 10% of all donated
funds.
The need for Homescapes services is much
larger than you might imagine. Often low-income individuals
with permanent physical
disabilities are the invisible part of our society. The only
time they leave their home is for a doctor’s visit or
for rehab. One of the first things that we identify during
our Home Visit is to set a personal goal of where the individual
will go once they have access in and out of their homes. Going
to church and visiting their relatives are always at the top
of the list. It’s hard to describe the joy and excitement
that comes to people confined to wheelchairs when they realize
what they can actually do once their homes are accessible.
We are all blessed and fortunate to be part of that joy and
excitement.
Homescapes would like to thank the dozens of
individual donors who have given so much and helped Homescapes
get off the ground.
We would also like to thank the Home
Builders Association of Chester and Delaware Counties and
the Home
Builders Association of Bucks/Montgomery Counties for
their generosity, both financially and physically.
We are proud to be associated with Magee
Rehabilitation Hospital , one
of the greatest in the country.
They are “miracle makers” with the thousands of
people they have helped. They have been instrumental in helping
Homescapes develop our home modification program. Their biggest
fundraising event of the year is coming up on Friday, September
29, 2006, the 17th
Annual Jerry Segal Classic.
We encourage everyone to be involved any way you can.
Thank you all,
Mark Fischer
