This project involved putting in an exterior wheelchair ramp for a recently injured patient who was being treated at Magee Rehab. This young husband and father of twin 5 year-olds was on his way to the store for the morning paper and coffee when an auto accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. When we received notice of the need for home modifications, we had eight days to when this young man was scheduled to return home. With the help from his father and family, the ramp was installed in time and he was able to return to his home and his family - instead of living in a nursing home.

Homescapes is now in the process of providing the internal home modifications of an accessible bathroom and bedroom for this man and his wife. Once funding is received we will be able to complete this project so that the family can try to get their lives back in order and he can begin the process of finding a job based on his new situation.
